MADE IN | | WEST GERMANY (no manufacturer on disc)
Note the number on this variation is 23696-2

Reportedly, this rare variation was withdrawn, as it was made from a faulty master.

MADE IN | | WEST GERMANY (no manufacturer on disc)
The catalog number on this variation is now 923696-2 // (23696-2).
Matrix number: 7599 23696-2 2893 021 03
This variation used a corrected master, and sounds quite nice!

MADE IN WEST | | GERMANY BY POLYGRAM
Matrix number: 7599 23696-2 2893 021 03
These are the only three disc variations known for the WG target CD.

Front cover of the eight-page booklet.
Page seven states "Manufactured by
PolyGram in Hanover, West Germany
Printed in West Germany"

Rear tray insert, "Printed in West Germany" with barcode.
Only tray inlay known to contain this target disc.
"23696-2" is printed on the reverse.
There is also a West German (non-target) pressing that uses this same inlay.

This same disc (the Polygram 03 variation) was issued in Japan with a sticker obi
and given the new catalog number 38XP-11. This is what it looks like with obi attached.
The Japanese catalog number only appears on the obi.
Later, this title was pressed in Japan for Japan in the 32XD series. See separate entry.

Notes: This disc is not as easy to find as the one pressed in Japan
but it can be found with a bit of searching.
As of this writing, the "02" variation appears to be quite scarce.

Jewel case info: (POLYGRAM 03) smooth frosted two-dimple case with nothing embossed on the back.
"14" is embossed on one tab, as well as on the back portion, inside bottom center.
Eight-prong disc tray embossed "Patents pending 14"

OTHER INTERESTING EARLY CD PRESSINGS OF THIS TITLE:

"Made in West Germany by PolyGram" (at 9 o'clock)
Matrix number: 7599 23696-2 2893 021 03 (same as target)
After the target design was discontinued, WEA still imported discs from
PolyGram, using the new boring disc design. Yawn. JVC in Japan
also made Nightfly discs, post-target. See the separate listing.
The paper inserts are the same as those used for the target discs.

"MADE IN U.S.A." at six o'clock. "Mfg. by WEA Manufacturing" at 9 o'clock.
Matrix number: 7599 23696-2 2893 021 03 (same as target), stamped very
very faintly in the plastic area just inside of the aluminum layer.
At first glance, it appears that there is no matrix code.
This type of disc is known to collectors as a Generation Zero WEA/Specialty pressing,
which predates the Generation One discs, or they were manufactured at the same time.
No one really seems to know. At any rate, Gen0 discs are quite rare. There are less
than thirty titles known to exist, and none of them are easy to locate.
They were manufactured in late 1986, to the best of my knowledge.

Rear tray insert "Printed in U.S.A." with barcode.
Tray card for the WEA disc, also used for later USA pressings, as well as
later Japanese target pressings, on occasion.
The booklet states "Printed in U.S.A." on page seven.
